Jane E. Archibald, 77

LENOX, Mass. — Jane E. Archibald, 77, of Lenox died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at her home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Archibald was born on September 7, 1940, in Pittsfield, Mass., to the late Robert and Lois Streeter Exford. She attended Pittsfield High School and was a 1958 graduate. After high school, Jane worked as a Legal Secretary for the Law Office of Claffie & Sullivan until her retirement in 2013.

Jane enjoyed reading, bowling, camping, mowing her lawn, spending time at her cottage on Center Pond in Becket, and she enjoyed attending her workout group at the Cardiac Rehab Facility, where she could be found joking with all of her friends she had made there. She was formerly the secretary/treasurer of the New Lenox Fire Company.

She was a communicant of St. Stephen's Church in Pittsfield.

Jane married Mr. Bruce W. Archibald on August 8, 1980, in St. Stephen's Church in Pittsfield. He predeceased her in March 2012.

Mrs. Archibald is survived by her stepdaughter, Heather L. Archibald of Pittsfield; and several cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, Jane is predeceased by a sister, Judith Juhring.

Funeral notice: The funeral service for Mrs. Jane E. Archibald will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane's memory may be made to either New Lenox Fire Company or St. Stephen's Church, both in care of the funeral home.
