Robert H. Booth, 71

ADAMS, Mass. — Robert H. “Bob” Booth, 71, of Mill Street, Adams, passed away at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield on Friday morning, June 22, 2018.

He was born in North Adams on May 19, 1947, the son of Agnes M. (O’Neil) Booth, no father. He attended Haskins Elementary School and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1965. Mr. Booth worked for nine years at Sprague Electric in North Adams, including two years in Barre, Vt. He worked for 20 years at General Electric in Pittsfield, Mass., and also worked for 18 years at Nastech in Bennington, Vt., retiring in 2013. He then worked part time at the Range on Curran Highway in North Adams, which was by far his favorite job; he enjoyed engaging with everyone. He loved to share local history with visitors to the area, and enjoyed reminiscing with friends about the evolution of North Adams.

Bob leaves his loving wife of 49 years, Cynthia R. (Hurlbut) Booth. They were married on June 21, 1969. He also leaves a son, Eric J. Booth, and his wife Laurie of Clarksburg, and a son Erin E. Booth and his wife Dawn of Clarksburg; and his three loving grandchildren, Katie “Pickle Head” Booth, Collin “Charlie” Booth, and Nolan “Mugwump” Booth.

Bob will always be remembered for his wise sense of humor. He was a very giving, thoughtful and loving man who was always willing to go the extra step, often on the spur of the moment. He had a knack for remembering conversations and followed through with simple gifts to make that person smile. His outgoing personality made him a friend to all, even to strangers. He was selfless and humble and always placed his family’s needs in front of his own. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral notice: A service to celebrate the life of Bob will be on Friday, June 29, 2018, at 9 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to PopCares through the funeral home.

A truly wonderful man who will be greatly missed. I believe over the years my family has watched a hundred games, from soccer to baseball to hockey, with him and his family. He was terrific at making everyone feel welcomed, and no one was betting at creating a fun environment. So many good memories, from his finding gloves for my kids to sounding the foghorn when our teams scored!

Nonnie, Eric, Erin and family,
Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Bob was a huge part of our life. We will cherish many memories (his funny t-shirts , his cow bell and megaphone at hockey, his cheering behind home plate, egg sandwiches, Red solo cup....). Sports won’t be the same without hearing Bob’s voice.
We love you all
