Christopher E. Doyle, 63

RICHMOND, Mass. — Christopher Edmund Doyle passed away at his home in Richmond on Thursday, August 16, 2018, after a long illness.

Born on August 27, 1954, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Francis X and Anna (Klekotka) Doyle. He was a graduate of St Joseph Central High School in 1972. He received an Associate Degree from Berkshire Community College and a Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing at University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Christopher worked for 33 1/2 years at Berkshire Medical Center. His career began as a staff nurse and he eventually earned the credential of Certified Nurse Administrator serving as the Nursing Administrative Director for the Psychiatry units, a job which was his passion.

He enjoyed many adventures in life: traveling, hiking, biking, sailing and canoeing. He was well known for his great Halloween parties, which he held yearly for friends and staff.  He was also very fond of his family Sunday dinners, a family tradition that he held dear.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased in life by his brothers, Edward J. and Vincent J. Doyle.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia (Faustine) Doyle, the love of his life; his brothers, Francis X. Doyle Jr. (Nory), Tony Doyle (Maria), Laurence Doyle (Janet), Jerry Doyle (Theresa), Gregory Doyle, Stephen Doyle, and Tim Doyle (Angie); his sisters, Pauline Zervas, Regina Doyle (James Gioia), Veronica Goerlach (John), Therese Brigley (Scott Carpenter), and Celeste Doyle (Gary Chandler); a brother-in-law, Tony Faustine; his sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Widel (Jon), Pamela Faustine and Andrea Ettinger; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral notice: Calling hours will be Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Mass. Because Christopher was a strong advocate for the mentally ill, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: NAMI, The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Donations may also be made to A Place for Us: Bonnie's Rescue for Stray Dogs, 4 Taconic Lane, Great Barrington, MA 01230, who cared for the family’s dog during this difficult time.
