Richard F. Shoestock, 73

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Richard Francis Shoestock, 73, of Lady Lake, Florida, and Adams, went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown.

He was born in North Adams on October 6, 1944, only son of the late Harriet (Farnam) Presnal. As a very young boy, his mother married Stanley Presnal, and Dick always considered him to be his father. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1963.

Mr. Shoestock worked for many years in the Power Transformer Division of General Electric Co., in both Pittsfield and Hickory, N.C. While he was working as an engineer he obtained two patents for high voltage fuses and one for personal patent for a climbing tree stand/deer carrier combination product used for hunting and transporting game from the hunting area. Following his retirement, Dick worked as a realtor for Century 21 at Harold Dupee Realtors, North Adams, and he and his wife started workamping for Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan, Conn.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Adams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, basketball, bowling and golfing, especially with his mother at Forest Park Country Club. He was an accomplished archer and bow hunter. He was a member of the National Field Archery Association Professional Division and shot in tournaments in New England in the 1975 to 1976 seasons.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Rebecca “Betty” Jackson, whom he married on September 8, 1990; his son, Richard Shoestock Jr. of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Barbara Propst and her husband Ron of Hickory, N.C., and Debra Ferearko of Marion, Ohio; one stepson, Rick Burke of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Crawley of Hickory, N.C., and Terri Dula of Waycross, Ga.; three sisters, Barbara Shoestock of Pikeville, N.C., Sandra Sheldon of North Adams and Mary Jane O’Brien of Adams; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with Rev. Donald Gray, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Rebecca Shoestock through the funeral home.
