Lillian M. Hiser, 83

LEE, Mass. — Lillian M. Hiser, 83, of Mill Street in Lee, died Thursday morning, October 4, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Lillian was born in Lee on May 31, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian Gangell Coty and was a 1953 graduate of Lee High School. She worked at the Morgan House in Lee, Dandi Donuts in Lee and at Athena’s Restaurant for 28 years, where she retired at age 81. 

She loved to bake wedding cakes and cookies and you also never left her house without her famous banana bread. She was a caregiver who enjoyed gardening and being with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved cooking for everyone that visited her house where saying “no” to more was never an option.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Philip G. Hiser Sr., whom she married on November 15, 1958, and with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; three sons, Philip Hiser Jr. and his wife Deborah, Frank Hiser and Albert Hiser, all of Lee; one daughter, Karen Hagley of Lenox Dale; two brothers, Jack Coty and his wife Mary and Richard Coty, all of Lee; five grandchildren, Rick Hiser, Amy Hiser, Philip Hiser III, Michael Hagley and Eric Earl; one great-grandson, Rick Hiser Jr.; and her very close family friends, Becky and Shaun Fitzgerald and their family of Lee. 

She is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral notice: The funeral service for Lillian will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at noon at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. 

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Donations may be made in her memory to the Lee Council on Aging in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
