Lorraine R. Ronan, 95

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lorraine R. (Mahar) Ronan, 95, of North Adams died at home on Saturday, January 12, 2019. 

She was born in North Adams on October 19, 1923, daughter of the late Thomas F. Mahar and Edna A. (Rougeau) Mahar. Lorraine graduated from the former Notre Dame Parochial School in 1940. She was employed by M. Lurie and Co., and the Hoosac Bank, both in North Adams.

Lorraine was a communicant of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a former communicant of Saint Francis Church in North Adams, where she was very active. She was also a member of the North Adams Council on Aging. 

Lorraine leaves four sons, Daniel A. Ronan (Linda) of Hackettstown, N.J., Peter R. Ronan of North Adams, Michael B. Ronan (Pamela) of Northbridge, Mass., and Timothy D. Ronan of Waltham, Mass.; two daughters, Mary C. Ronan and Cathleen M. Ronan of Waltham, Mass.; five grandchildren, Sean M. Ronan (Kate) of Hanover, Mass., Colleen E. Dupuis (Aaron) of New York City, N.Y., Cory C. Ronan of Dorchester, Mass., Gregory B. Ronan (Corynne) of Hackettstown, N.J., and James E. Ronan of New York City, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Jason Ronan Dupuis and Grace Ronan. 

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Gerald T. Ronan, who died on April 24, 2002. They were married on December 26, 1945, in the former Notre Dame Church. She was also pre-deceased by her brother, Raymond F. Mahar, who died August 10, 2004; and her sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Mahar, who died November 24, 2018. 

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, Mass. Donations are suggested for VNA of the Berkshires, the North Adams Ambulance Service, or to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church through the Funeral Home.
