When we think of the great women of the world we often think of people like Eleanor Roosevelt, Marie Curie, Harriett Tubman, etc. And indeed these women were great. But we often fail to see the great women who are right in front of us. My beloved aunt, Marion Hazel Belding Ruhman Crawford, was truly a great woman. She lived as an embodiment of what it means to be a great woman. Kind beyond measure, infinitely loving, a wonderful caregiver, a true Child of God. I had never heard Marion say a bad word about anyone. In fact, she was so gracious and considerate of everyone. In our family, she was indeed the matriarch, even though my grandmother, the elder sister was a wonderful woman, Marion took on the role of matriarch and shepherded our family with amazing grace, love, kindness, and mercy. She is a major influence in my life, and indeed one of the greatest reasons I have lived a happy, fulfilling life. She always believed in the people she loved, and took the time to let you know you were important to her. May God Bless you forever Mare, I love you with all my heart.
