Armand G. Perreault, 95

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Armand Gerald Perreault, 95, of 227 Franklin St. died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at his home.

Born in Leominster on May 4, 1918, son of Raoul and Aurora Spring Perreault, he attended Leominster schools and graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg. He graduated from Holy Cross College with the class of 1948.

A Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 10th Armored Division participating in the Invasion of Normandy. He was awarded the Bronze Star and made an honorary citizen of the French town he helped liberate.

Mr. Perrault was last employed as the French language teacher at Drury High School until his retirement in 1983. He had also taught at the former Worcester Junior College.

Following his retirement, he was an active volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital for many years. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, where he served as a lector.

He leaves his sister, Nancy Perreault of Hubbardston, and nieces and nephews. His brother, Robert Perreault, predeceased him.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Perreault will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in St. Cecelia's Cemetery in Leominster.

A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams.

I never had Mr. Perrealt as a teacher but worked with him at Notre Dame Parish. From the youth group specifically. Sorry for the loss. My brother visited him several times during the year

Mr. Perrault was engaging with students like few others. He was a great listener and seemed to know nearly every student in my graduating class whether or not he was their teacher (he was not a teacher of mine). He was a rare breed indeed. Sail on Mr. Perrault.

Missoire Perreault was one of my favorite teachers at Drury. I recall his great efforts to teach me french but I was a rebellious teenager and did not appreciate the gift he was to Drury. God bless.
