Joan Durocher, 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joan Durocher, 90, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Adams on Dec. 22, 1923, a daughter of John and Agnes Jardine Bryce, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941.
Mrs. Durocher was employed in the accounting department at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 45 years, retiring as a financial analyst.
She was a longtime and active member of First Congregational Church, where she sang for many years in the choir and belonged to the Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of the Adams Study Club and a longtime member of the Naomi Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, holding the offices of grand chaplain and deputy grand matron. She was a member of Daughter of Scotia.
She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, bowling and golfing at the Stamford (Vt.) Country Club.
Her husband, Vernon Durocher, whom she married May 12, 1956, died July 6, 1990.
She leaves nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Kosche, Katherine Hegarty and Lillian Sherman and a brother, John Bryce.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Durocher will take place Saturday morning, Feb. 1, at 10:30 at First Congregational Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service.
