Samuel R. Fulginiti, 92NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Samuel R. Fulginiti, 92, of 15 Myers Ave. died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 1, 1921, son of Giuseppe and Angelina Cirullo Fulginiti, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1939.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a boatswain's mate, second class, on the USS Elizabeth C. Stanton. He participated in four invasions of Europe.
Mr. Fulginiti was employed by the former General Cable Co. for many years until his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member of American Legion Post 125.
He leaves his wife, the former Mae O'Neil, whom he married on Jan. 6, 1945; two daughters, Nancy Canales and her husband, George, and Ann Harpin and her husband, David, all of North Adams; four grandchildren, Michael Canales, David Canales, Jason Canales and Angela Rougeau, and seven great-grandchildren, Owen, Evan, Annie, Dana, Sami, Brayden and Wyatt.
FUNERAL NOTICE: — The funeral for Mr. Fulginiti will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at 9:30 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals,West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 7, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pop Cares or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
