John S. Pralat, 70ADAMS, Mass. — John S. Pralat, 70, of 23 Manners Ave. died Monday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2014, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Adams on May 6, 1943, son of Marian and Julia Witek Pralat, he attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams High School. He also graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, and later from the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
He served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard for six years.
At the time of his passing, Mr. Pralat was working in the Security Department at Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, a position he held for the past 10 years. Earlier, he had worked as a tool designer at the former Beloit Corp. in Dalton for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping.
He leaves two sisters, Barbara Wisniowski and her husband, Richard, of Adams, and Nancy Pralat and her companion, Peter Matelski, of East Hartford, Conn.; nieces and nephews, Steven Wisniowski and his wife, Kelly, Deborah Stephenson and her husband, Ron, Karen Wisniowski, Lesley Kowalczyk and her husband, Stephen, and Mitchell Wisniowski; his grandnieces and -nephews, Sarah and Katie Stephenson; and Julia and Alexander Kowalczyk, and several cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Pralat will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 22, at noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will be at a later date in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours will Saturday morning from 10:30 until 11:30 at Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
