Ethel Roy, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ethel Roy, 88, of 65 Kemp Ave. died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at North Adams Commons.

Born in Sheldon, Iowa on Sept. 28, 1925, daughter of Harry and Clara Debrien Pekelder, she attended schools in Sheldon.

Mrs. Roy was employed the receptionist and manager of the museum store at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown until her retirement. She first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co.

She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the North Adams Country Club.

Her husband, Lionel E. "Nel" Roy, whom she married on July 13, 1946, died March 11, 2009.

She leaves her son, Daryl Roy and his wife, Mireille, of Clarksburg; a sister, Ruth Diekevers of Sheldon; a granddaughter, Danielle Roy of Bozeman, Mont., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Roy will be private. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to North Adams Regional Hospital or to the North Adams Commons Activities Fund in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals,Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams MA 01247.
