Lawrence E. Moreau, 85

March 10, 2013

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. Lawrence Edward Moreau, 85, of Londonderry, N.H., and formerly of North Adams and Lowell, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family. Mr. Moreau was a former North Adams city councilor.

Born in North Adams on Oct. 5, 1928, a son of Leo Arthur Moreau Sr. and Alvina Maude Landry Moreau, he graduated from Drury High School and Bentley University.

A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served as a specialist, second class.

Mr. Moreau was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. as a manager of purchasing and corporate contracts. He then was employed at Torque Systems Inc. Division of EG&G in Waltham as director of materials. He last worked as an insurance and stock adviser at Prudential Insurance Co. in Chelmsford.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and golf. He had a been fourth-degree knight in the Knight of Columbus while a resident of North Adams.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lorraine Rivers, whom he married in 1950.

He leaves two daughters, Eileen Chabot and her husband, John, of Montgomery, Ill. and Jane Aubrey and her husband, Christopher, of Londonderry; a son, Edward Moreau and his wife, Barbara, of Northfield; two brothers, Leo Moreau of Conway, S.C., and Richard Moreau of Clarksburg; and five grandchildren, Lynne and Adam Chabot, Matthew, Nicole and Jason Aubrey, and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Ben and Emma Chabot.

He was predeceased by his brother Norman Moreau, also of North Adams.

FUNERAL NOTICE A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Moreau will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
