Peter Charbonneau, 62

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Peter U. Charbonneau, 62, of 710 Hancock Road died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

Born in Douglas, Ariz., on Dec. 24, 1951, the son of Ulysses and Manon Pettit Charbonneau, he was a graduate of Colorado Academy and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado.

A Navy veteran, he served from 1970 to 1976 as a missile technician on the submarine USS Nathaniel Greene.

Mr. Charbonneau had worked at Williams College as a senior network administrator for the past 16 years. Prior to that, he worked at GE and Ford Aerospace.

He was a beloved husband and proud father and grandfather, "Pop" to his grandchildren. He was a loving presence to many other children as a foster dad.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, the former Karen Lee Schmittberger; five daughters, Megan Charbonneau of Pittsfield, Lindsay Charbonneau of North Adams, Caitlin McKinnon, Shannon Charbonneau and Abbe Charbonneau, all of Williamstown, and Debra Crane of Enfield, Conn.; a son, Zachary Charbonneau of Williamstown; his sister, Cherie MacGillivray of Santa Fe, N.M.; two brothers, Stephen Charbonneau of Santa Fe and Michael Charbonneau of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jacob Charbonneau, Jace Dickhaus, Eamonn Maloney and Amanda, Anthony and Andrew Crane, and his dearly beloved cousin, Jill Heine of Medina, Ohio.

FUNERAL NOTICE Services for Mr. Charbonneau will take place Monday, March 24, at 1 p.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 23, from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or HospiceCare of the Berkshires through the funeral home.

Our sympathy goes to all of the Charboneau family. Peter was the ideal husband, father, and friend and will be missed by many. He made his mark and his legacy will remain.
