Sandra L. Shank, 59
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Sandra L. Shank, 59, of 568 River Road died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Berkshire Medical Center Satellite Emergency Facility in North Adams.
Born in North Adams on April 29, 1955, a daughter of the late John and Nellie Morin Hewitt, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1974.
Mrs. Shank was employed for 26 years as a certified nursing assistant with the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire and later with Berkshire VNA & Hospice. Many of her patients referred to her as "the nurse with hands of an angel" and she had a true gift of caring for others.
She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and flower gardening.
She and her husband Randy Shank, were married July 20, 1974, at the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.
Besides her husband, she leaves her daughter Jessica Shank and her fiance, J.T. Spencer, of Clarksburg; a son, Christopher Shank of Waterford, N.Y.; a brother, Frank R. Hewitt and his wife, Sarah, of Brewster; two grandchildren, Adriana Rettig and Halo Spencer; a brother-in-law, Emerson Shank and his wife, Joan; two sisters-in-law, Gloria White and her husband, Edward, and Diane Perry, and nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shank will take place Saturday morning, June 14, at 9 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 13, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for Berkshire VNA & Hospice through the funeral home.
