Paula M. Jones, 55
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Paula Marie Jones, 55, formerly of North Adams, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at her home in the Lake Carolina section of Columbia, S.C., following a battle with cancer.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 28, 1958, the daughter of Aldem and Faith Mancini Trottier of Manchester, N.H., originally from North Adams, she was a 1976 graduate of Drury High School and a 1980 graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. At Siena, she earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting, graduating cum laude.
During her successful career, Mrs. Jones became a certified public accountant, a designation of which she was very proud. She held various accounting and finance positions in the Washington, D.C., and Maryland areas, and retired at age 48 as vice president and chief financial officer of Encore Marketing of Lanham, Md.
After her retirement, Jones and her husband moved to their dream home in South Carolina, where she continued to work part time in financial positions with a number of firms in Maryland, Washington and South Carolina.
Besides her husband, Thomas Jones, and her parents, she leaves a daughter, Natalie Ward and her husband, Jeffrey, of Chapin, S.C.; a sister, Melodye Crockwell of Manchester; a brother, Craig Trottier of Manchester; two grandchildren, Karsen and Kevin Ward, both of Chapin, and aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE - During her battle with cancer, Mrs. Jones became passionate to the cause of helping children stricken with cancer. Members of her family are creating a charitable trust to help children with cancer in her memory.
A memorial Mass will be held in North Adams at a later date. Services in Columbia were held July 22.
