Bruce F. Collier, 64
ADAMS, Mass. — Bruce F. Collier, 64, of 3 Myrtle St. died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield following a brief illness.
Born in North Adams on July 20, 1950, son of Raymond Collier of North Adams and Jessie Koloski of San Bernardino, Calif., he was a 1969 graduate of Drury High School. He was an accomplished high school athlete, excelling in football and baseball, and serving as co-captain of both teams. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard.
Mr. Collier was a driver and deliveryman, until his retirement in 2008, for several local businesses, including Hayden Oil, H.A. George, Fahey Beverage, Peter Pan Bus Co. and, from 1996 until his retirement, DuFour Tours as a motor coach operator and bus driver. A hard worker, anyone who had him as a driver always commented on how professional he was, and he was often requested to drive on trips. He was known for his outgoing personality and friendliness with his colleagues.
Besides his parents, he leaves his daughter, Christa Collier and her husband, Travis DuPont, of Adams; his brother, Paul Collier and his wife, Beth, and their daughter, Hannah, of North Adams; his twin sister, Margaret McDonald and her husband, Steven, of San Bernardino; grandson, Kyle DuPont, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Collier, on Jan. 19, 1990.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Collier will be Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 until 11 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Berkshire County Kids' Place in care of the funeral home. The family would like to thank Berkshire Medical Center for its excellent care.
