Lucius M. Coody Jr., 87

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lucius Monroe Coody Jr., 87, of 70 Frederick St. died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Adams on June 28, 1927, a son of Lucius M. Coody Sr. and Catherine Stuart Coody, he attended schools in Clarksburg. A decorated Navy veteran, he served in both Word War II and the Korean War. He spent a total of 10 1/2 years in the service. Mr. Coody was employed as a salesman at K & M Motors for 40 years. A devoted family man, he was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and of Dr. George L. Curran Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 996. He was a fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. His wife, the former Barbara Jane Richardson, whom he married June 18, 1955, died Dec. 17, 2014. He leaves a son, Robin Coody and his wife, Debbie Turnbull, of North Adams; two daughters, Deborah Tatro and her husband, Roger, of Rexford, N.Y., and Laurie Coody and her fiance, Steven Boucher, of North Adams; a brother, George Coody of North Adams; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole and Carl Cannady of Westfield, Heidi and Gene Pellerin of Rexford, Jennifer and Marc Chenail of Pittsfield, Katie and James Gulley of Bennington, Vt., and Amy and Adam Garner, Nicholas and Kaley Moulton, Christilyn Moulton, Sarah Moulton and Cara Moulton, all of North Adams, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Clarice, Mary, Arlene and Stuart. FUNERAL NOTICE - Services for Mr. Coody will be private. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Sociey or the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. The children of Lucius and Barbara Coody would like to thank Janine Tatro and Antoinette Alizzio, the beloved caregivers of their parents, for loving and caring for them as their own.
