Irene D. Soja, 88
ADAMS, Mass. — Irene D. Soja, 88, of 23 East St. died Sunday evening, March 8, 2015, at her home.
Born in Adams on April 5, 1926, a daughter of John and Anna Kuna Soja, she attended St. Stanislaus Kostka Elementary School, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1944.
Miss Soja was employed as an office clerk in the former Power Transformer division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, retiring with more than 40 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where she was a member and officer of its Rosary Sodality and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes for several years. She was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. She enjoyed traveling, decorating and fashion, and especially enjoyed outings with her nieces and nephews, including skiing and horseback riding.
She leaves two sisters, Helen Soja and Stephanie Soja, with whom she resided; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Soja, on May 16, 2012.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Miss Soja will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 11:30 from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10:30 until 11:30 at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10 to pay their respects and recite the Rosary.
