Josephine Snyder, 87
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Josephine Snyder, 87, of 27 Thornliebank Road died peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Born in Rahway, N.J., she was the loving daughter of Nicholas Dunphy, chief of the Rahway Fire Department, and Jane O'Keefe Dunphy a homemaker. She was a longtime resident of Williamstown.
Mrs. Snyder was employed as an administrative assistant in the Williamstown Public Schools from 1975 to 1987 and, in the 1950s, in New York City and Philadelphia.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and of St. Mary's in Rahway. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Known as "Mimi," she especially liked reading novels, sewing, baking with her granddaughters, and passing on family recipes. She was a constant source of strength, good humor and compassion for her family.
Mrs. Snyder was a longtime cancer survivor and supporter of the American Cancer Society.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, James M. Snyder; her son, James G. Snyder of North Granby, Conn., and by her loving grandchildren Georgia Snyder and Bridget Snyder.
She was predeceased by her three sisters, Evelyn Hofmann of Rahway, Jane Cook of Cranford, N.J., and Joan Marchitto of Cumberland, R.I.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A private service to celebrate Mrs. Snyder's life will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Rahway at a date and time to be announced.
