Joan Goldener Mann, 87
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Joan Theresa Goldener Mann, 87, of 113 Longview Terrace died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in Providence, R.I., on Jan. 8, 1928, daughter of Charles L. and Heleyn Hattell Goldener, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Dr. John Gilbert Mann. She attended schools in Providence.
Ms. Mann was last employed as a medical transcriptionist by Encino (Calif.) Hospital. Prior to that, she worked at Davis and Cox Law Firm as special counsel to Howard Hughes and at University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center's Radiology Department for professor emeritus Ross Golden.
She was a talented artist studying voice with Mebane Beasley of Los Angeles and acting with Francis Lederer and Robert Milton. She also studied dance with Ruth St. Denis, Karoon Tootikian and Michael Panieff. She was a member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association; the Screen Actors Guild and the American Guild of Variety Artists. She enjoyed writing poetry and was an honorary member of the International Society of Poets and had many of her poems published.
She leaves three sons, Christopher Boesch of Arizona, Matthew Chow of Williamstown and Mark Mann of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Five brothers are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Ms. Mann will be Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Children International in care of the funeral home.
