Yvonne E. DeSanty, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Yvonne Emilia DeSanty, 79, of Adams Street died Saturday, May 16, 2015. Born in Bedford on Jan. 4, 1936, daughter of Thomas and Emilia Gomes Boino, she was a child when her family moved to Pittsfield, where she attend schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School. A homemaker, Mrs. DeSanty later worked at Willowood of Williamstown, where she did what she was meant to do, caring for the elderly. She had an incredible bond with many of her patients and their families and many patients would call her "Mama" and call for her throughout the halls of Willowood. She retired in the late 1990s to care for her mother and husband. She was known for her huge heart and was always giving selflessly to those in need. Christmas was always her favorite time of year and she leaves her family with many traditions to carry on and hold close to their hearts forever. As an avid animal lover, she and her late husband were always taking in stray animals and providing them with a safe and loving home. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her loving husband, Thomas DeSanty, whom she married on Oct. 2, 1965, died March 22, 2002. She was also predeceased by her brother Joaquin "Jack" Boino. She leaves her beloved campanion Scribbles; four daughters, Christina Taylor Zustra and her husband, John, of Cheshire, Teresa Taylor Howard and her husband, Doug, of New Hampshire, Antoinette DeSanty Lentine and her husband, Robert, of North Adams and Laura DeSanty Shafer of Adams; a brother, Daniel Boino and his wife, Jeanne of Pittsfield; many grandchildren, Christopher McKay and his wife, Jen, Amanda McKay and Danielle Serrano, whom she loved like a granddaughter, all of North Adams, Monica Carpenter and her husband, Ray, Gabriella Shafer and her boyfriend, whom she adored, Mitchell Langlois, and Maxwell Shafer, all of Adams, Daniel Briggs and his fiancee, Amy, and Carissa Briggs, all of New Hampshire, Nicholas Lentine and his wife, Jocelyn, of Pownal, Vt., and Zachary DeSanty of Dorchester; great-grandchildren who brought her much joy, Alyssa, Brayden, Cole, Isabella, Ryan, Jacob and Jaren; her sister-in-law, Rosemary Boino of Dalton, and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize lifelong friends and extended family, Leon and Patricia Lescarbeau of North Adams and their daughters, Cheryl and Wendy of Connecticut. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. DeSanty will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. God came down on wings for Mrs. DeSanty and brought her to heaven's doors.
