Lavenia Batchelder Mowe, 93

READSBORO, Vt. — Lavenia Batchelder Mowe, 93, formerly of 45 Tunnel St., died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Vernon Green Nursing Home in Vernon. Born in Readsboro on Oct. 1, 1921, daughter of Pearle and Emma Bouvier Aubertine, she attended local schools. Mrs. Mowe was last employed at Snow Lake Lodge at Mount Snow. Prior to that she had worked at the former Deerfield Glassine in Monroe Bridge, Mass., the former Clark Biscuit and Hunter Outdoor Products, both in North Adams, Mass., Readsboro Falls Findings, GS Precision in Brattleboro and Vermont Hardwoods. She was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church and a member of its St. Anne's Society, and a member of the Readsboro American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and worked at the Rocky Mountain Day Camp. She enjoyed dancing, church bazaars and dinners, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her husband, Louis Lincoln Mowe, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1948, died on Nov. 14, 1994. She leaves a daughter, Lorrie J. Massari and her husband, Peter, of Brattleboro; a son, Frank Batchelder and his wife, Gayle, of Clarksburg, Mass.; her brother, Frank Brooks of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Chris Batchelder, Tammy Weiss, Todd Batchelder, Carla Batchelder, Frank Batchelder Jr., Kristin Rondeau, Amy Smith and Peter Massari Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Her son Randy Batchelder died in 2003 and four sisters and two brothers are deceased: Evelyn Moran, Irene Pratt, Marion Furlon, Edna Yorke, Albert and Calvin Aubertine. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mowe will be celebrated Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. A calling hour will be held at the church on Friday from 10 to 11. Donations may be made to Vernon Green Nursing Home in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
