Lawrence J. Lipari, 87
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Lawrence J. Lipari, 87, of 287 Benedict Road, died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 11, 1928, the son of Frank and Barbara Furciniti Lipari, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from gPittsfield High School.
He was a Navy veteran.
Mr. Lipari retired as a draftsman from General Electric in 1988.
A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, and the former Mount Carmel Church. He loved to garden and was the epitome of do-it-yourself: there was nothing he couldn't create, build or fix. Many people will remember his generous spirit, as he spent most of his time helping someone with something.
His wife, the former Jennie Watroba, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1956, died in February of this year.
He leaves his son, Lawrence Lipari Jr.; three sisters, Mary Card and her husband Clifford, Barbara Janis and her husband, Daniel, and Carolyn Rousseau and her husband, Ronald; his brother, Francis Lipari and his wife, Theresa; four sisters-in-law, Irene Watroba, Ann Watroba, Dorothy Watroba and Phyllis Watroba, and many nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Lipari will be held on Friday, June 19, at 11 from St. Joseph's Church, 414 North St., celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday morning, prior to the service, from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Joseph's Food Pantry in care of the funeral home or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
