Norman J. Labrecque, 94
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Norman John Labrecque, 94, of North Adams died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 7, 1920, son of Remi and Naomi Blanchard Labrecque, he attended local schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe, where he participated in campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Labrecque was last employed by Williams College as a custodian until his retirement in 1986. Before that, he worked at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill.
He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church and a member of the George L. Curran Post 996 VFW. He enjoyed fishing.
His wife, the former Marjorie LeClair, whom he married in 1952, died on June 12, 1978.
He leaves a daughter, Sandra Blake and her husband, Gary, of North Adams; a granddaughter, Candace Johnson of North Adams; two great-grandchildren, Audrey Belanger and Lillian Johnson, and nieces and nephews.
His brother and sister, Russell Labrecque and Philixine Tyler, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Labrecque will be Friday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
