Arthur G. Blay, 79
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Arthur Godfrey Blay, 79, of Owens Avenue died on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at his home
Born in North Adams on Dec. 15, 1935, a son of Godfrey Arthur and Valida Desormeaux Blay, he attended the former Notre Dame School and graduated from Drury High School.
A Navy veteran, he enlisted in 1955 and was discharged in 1959 with the rating of electrician, 3rd class.
Mr. Blay was a master electrician. He was first employed at the former General Cable in Williamstown and then for more than 30 years with Tower Electric Contracting.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church. He loved working with his hands and especially enjoyed woodworking, model ship making, painting, puzzles and fishing. His greatest joy was being a devoted husband and father.
His wife, the former Theresa Mary Levesque, whom he married on July 1, 1961, died on June 5, 2013.
He leaves his daughter, Lisa Marie Ruberto and her husband, Leone, of Dalton; his two sons, Robert A. Blay and his wife, Lisa, and Michael T. Blay and his partner, Michael Wegrzyn, all of North Adams; a sister, Mary Rose Maroni of North Adams; two brothers, Joseph Blay of Adams and Godfrey "Frank" Blay Jr. of New York, and nieces and nephews.
His sisters Valida Frank and Cecile Wojnicki, and brother William Blay are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A funeral to celebrate the life of Mr. Blay will take place on Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the DAV through the funeral home.
