Patricia Ann Carlson, 51

STAMFORD, Vt. — Patricia Ann "Trisha" Carlson, 51, of Main Road, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at home, surrounded by family, after fighting a heroic battle with colorectal cancer for the past nine years.

Born in Springfield, Mass, on May 11, 1964, daughter of Gilbert LeBlanc of Ludlow, Mass., and Kathleen Bowler LeBlanc Suzor of Longmeadow, Mass., she graduated from Ludlow High School and received her degree in community recreation from Greenfield (Mass.) Community College.

Mrs. Carlson worked with the elderly for many years in a variety of settings. Particularly memorable for her was Brookwood Court in Holyoke, Mass., where she was the recreation director and where she met her husband, Darrell Carlson. Most recently, she enjoyed being the public librarian at the Stamford Community Library. Helping share her love for people and books with young and old and bringing the community to the library for events was very fulfilling for her.

For 17 years, she volunteered at Stamford School, teaching students in Grades K-4 to appreciate nature around them through the Environmental Learning for the Future program. She earned the Vermont Volunteer of the Year award for her efforts.

She was a longtime member of First Congregational Church in North Adams, Mass., and enjoyed running with her husband, coaching soccer, and doing anything that involved time with her family, especially family vacations.

Mrs. Carlson was a loving mother who was committed to being present to support all of her children.

Besides her parents and her husband of 26 years, she leaves two sons, Ben Carlson and his wife, Alli, and their daughter, Eleanor of Baltimore, and Samuel Carlson and his companion, Elise Bettendorf, of Burlington; a daughter, Olivia Carlson of Stamford; three brothers, Bill LeBlanc and his wife, Kelly, of Greenville, Tenn., Robert LeBlanc and John LeBlanc and his husband, Jesus Reyes, of Ludlow; stepsiblings Ken Tyburski and his wife, Laurie, Carl Tyburski and his wife, Donna, Brett Suzor, Betsy Harrington and her husband, Tom, and Kristen Suzor, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her stepmother, Kathleen LeBlanc, and stepfather, Ray Suzor.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Mrs. Carlson will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 11 from First Congregational Church, Main Street, North Adams, Mass.

Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. A Memorial  Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 18, at 10 at St. Cecilia's Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Community Library or the Berkshire Food Project.

The family would like to thank all those that have helped throughout the years with cards, flowers, meals, rides and loving support. A special thanks goes to the Berkshire Hematology and Oncology.
