Amelia V. Cronin, 103
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Amelia V. Cronin, 103, a native of North Adams, died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, with her daughter, Mary Cronin-Whitney, at her side at Roberts Health Centre in North Kingstown, R.I.
Born on Nov. 6, 1912, she was the daughter of Francesco and Anna Murano Gamari,
Her husband, Cornelius P. Cronin, whom she married on Aug. 5, 1939, died Jan. 29, 1974.
She moved to Rhode Island in 2004 to live with her daughter until 2008, when she became a resident of RHC, where she was well known and very much loved. She always enjoyed listening to music, reading and spending time with her family and friends. In later years, her passion was playing bingo and participating in numerous activities at RHC. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and sense of humor; her smile could light up a room.
Besides her daughter, of Wakefield, R.I., she leaves a son, J. Peter Cronin of North Adams; her former daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Huband Cronin of Stephentown, N.Y.; four grandsons, Sean Cronin, Michael Cronin, Patrick Cronin and Brett Whitney and his wife,Mary Beth; five great-grandchildren, Joseph Cronin, Michael Cronin, James Cronin, Andrew Whitney and Allison Whitney, and many nieces and nephews, along with her extended family of loving caregivers at Roberts Health Centre.
She was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters, Joseph, Anthony, Ernest, Michael, Henry, Silvio and Gerald Gamari, and Rose Monterosso and Theresa Rogers.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Cronin will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, at noon at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Attendees are asked to wear pink, her favorite color that she wore every day. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning from 11 to noon. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
