Nello N. Salvitti, 53
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Nello N. Salvitti, 53, of Attleboro, formerly of Pittsfield, died Monday evening, Jan. 25, 2016, surrounded by his family at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield in 1962, son of Nicola and Rosa Salvitti, he graduated from St. Joseph's High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Northeastern University. He was a Coro Fellow graduate of the Coro Leadership Center, St. Louis, a nationally renowned leadership training program.
Mr. Salvitti was employed for many years in financial services and later as a sales consultant in the medical information systems industry.
As a volunteer project manager for the International Community Service Foundation in Boston, he participated in initiatives to build playgrounds and renovate inner city schools for underprivileged children. He touched many peoples' lives with his huge heart, big smile and quick wit, always willing to put his own needs secondary to others in need. He made every encounter special. He loved sports, especially football, and to the chagrin of his Boston friends, was a Yankees fan.
He leaves two sisters, Nanda Hrul and her husband, Peter, of Norfolk and Donna O'Hara and her husband, Tom, of Bridgewater.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services will take place Monday, Feb. 1, at 9:30 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will be private.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.
