Mary A. Actor, 98

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mary Antoinette Actor, 98, a longtime resident of 85 Birch Grove Drive, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Kimball Farms Nursing facility in Lenox.

Born in Pittsfield on April 15, 1917, daughter of John and Josephine Bogliolo Minotti, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Actor was employed for many years at the former England Brothers Department Store, primarily in the toy department and book department. During World War II, she worked at the former General Electric assembling transformers used in bombs in the war effort.

She was a devoted wife and mother and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing politics. She loved music including opera, particularly the works of Verdi.

In retirement, she was a frequent traveler with her husband of 53 years, Joseph F. Actor Sr., and they enjoyed interacting with both the local residents and tourists.

Her husband, whom she married on June 15, 1946, died on Jan. 27, 2000.  

She leaves a daughter, Mary E. Actor of New York City; a son, Joseph F. Actor Jr. of Uxbridge, and nieces and nephews.

All four of her brothers are deceased: Ernest, Victor, Peter and Robert Minotti.   

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Actor will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  

A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Benvivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield.
