Margaret Pelosi, 84

WILMINGTON, Vt. — Margaret (Mullowney) Pelosi, 84, who was born and raised in Everett, Mass., resided for many years in Reading, Mass., and more recently in Fitchburg, Mass., passed away at home in Wilmington on Saturday, April 23, 2016, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

She was the proud wife of her sweetheart, Augustine Pelosi, who predeceased her in 2011. She leaves her son Robert Pelosi and her son-in-law James Follett of

Wilmington, Vt. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pelosi of Revere and Euphemia Mullowney of Everett, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Annie Mullowney, her sister Bernadette Hickey and her brother William Mullowney, all of Everett.

Margie made a career in the home decor industry, first at Augustine's House of Carpet in Melrose, Mass., where she and her husband, Gus, spent many happy years, and later at Sears in Saugus, Mass.

Always an amazing cook and baker, Margie spent much time cooking, perfecting new creations, and teaching many of her nieces her secrets. She delighted in setting the perfect table and in entertaining with charm and grace.

Margie was a woman of simple needs whose family was her only priority. She was a role model for the younger generations of facing adversity with a smile and a cookie. When the going got tough, Margie got baking!

Since her move to Vermont after her husband’s death, Margaret challenged the effects of her chemotherapy by continuing to bake, and by spending many of her summer days with dear friends in her trailer at Three Ponds Campground in Brentwood, N.H., with beloved friends Pat & Steve, Larry, Crystal, Theoni, Donna, Harry &

Loretta, Claire, Maggie & Ron. Her dear and treasured “honorary granddaughters” Justine Hibbard of Woburn, Mass., and Missy Gilbeau of Wilmington, Vt., became shining beacons of her later life, and brought her joy, laughter and cupcakes.

Margie was most recently a proud member of Saint Mary’s in the Mountains Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Vt. Her friends from Saint Mary’s treated her like a queen, even as they joined in with wonderful Wilmington friends as all pitched in to transport her to medical appointments and lovingly holding her hand in her final days. Margie’s bright smile, love, and courage will be sadly missed.

Funeral notice: Calling hours will be held at Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, 44 East Main St., Wilmington, Vt., on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will follow on Wednesday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with a noon service at Saint Mary's-in-the Mountains Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Deerfield Valley Rescue or Kindle Farm School.
