Melissa J. Wheeler, 50
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Melissa Jean (Cooper) Wheeler, 50, of North Adams died on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Melissa was born in North Adams on May 5, 1965 a daughter of William T. Cooper Sr. and Donna (Shaw) Cooper-Goodell. She attended Drury High School and graduated with the class of 1983.
She was employed at Friendly’s in North Adams for many years and later ran a child day care, Missie's Day Care, for 21 years and took care of well over 100 children in the local area. She was a member of the Greylock Club and was a devoted mother and Nana.
She enjoyed camping, camp fires, gardening, cooking, crafting, dancing and poker (Texas Hold ‘em)
Melissa is survived by her husband, Jon Wheeler, whom she married on June 20, 1987; her five children, Bethany Karmazyn of North Adams, twin daughters Kaitlyn Wheeler and Sarah Wheeler of North Adams, Brandyn Wheeler of North Adams and stepson Michael Wheeler of Pownal, Vt.; four grandchildren, Haley, Paul, Bradley and Jamil; three sisters, Cynthia Marran of Adams, Kimberly Horsfall of North Adams and Edith Cardinal of North Adams; a brother, William Cooper Jr. of North Adams; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral notice: Calling hours for Melissa Wheeler will be on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
The family invites all relatives and friends to the Greylock Club pavilion after calling hours Friday evening.
