Zackary J. Decker, 17

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Zackary Joseph Decker, 17, of 117 Barbour St., North Adams, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born in Pittsfield on July 11, 1998, son of Steven Joseph Decker and Tonia (Humphrey) Canavan. He attended schools in North Adams and was a senior at Drury High School.

Zack loved all sports and participated in youth basketball, baseball and football.

Survivors include his father, Steven J. Decker of North Adams; his mother, Tonia Canavan of Adams; his paternal grandmother, Marie Freney of Boxboro, Mass.; his maternal grandmother, Diane Moa of the state of Florida; two stepsisters, Cellie and Rylee ; two stepbrothers, David and Aidan; several cousins; and many friends.

Funeral notice: Funeral services will take place Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 3-6 p.m.

I just wanted to say that we made a promise to never forget the memories we made. That if something ever happened to us that we would wait for each other and pick up where we left off. I always said that I would be the first to go because you had such a pure and happy soul. Never thought that god would take someone so special away so soon. You are the light to guide me through the rest of life. Keep heaven bright up there for me so when it's my time we can spend our time in the sunshine just like we always did during the summer. Memories last a lifetime and they will remain in my heart, till we meet again my friend. I love you... <3

My daughter, elissa Senegal knew him and I was told by my by other daughter, Isabella of his passing. I want to say I am so sorry about zachary' s death. I'm thinking of all of you in my prayers. May he be in a better place. God has received his Angel home.

I am so sorry to hear of the lost of Zachary. I new him from sub teaching a Drury. I just saw him a couple of week ago a Drury we talk for about 10 minutes on how well he was doing in school. He was a very funny person. God bless you family and my prayers I will u.
