Alberta G. Sorrentino, 96

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Alberta G. “Bertha” Sorrentino, 96, formerly of Center Street in Lee and Housatonic Street in Lenox, died Sunday, May 1, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.

She was born in Pittsfield on February 28, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Irene Hatin Roy, and was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

After her marriage to Joseph T. Sorrentino on April 27, 1946, she moved to Lee and in the 1960s worked in the cafeteria at Lee Central School. Her husband died April 14, 1993.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Lenox and former member of St. Mary’s Church in Lee. While in Lenox she was a member of the Lenox Senior Citizens.

She leaves her daughter, Sharon L. Stevens and her husband Robert of Dalton; a grandson, Brian Torrey and his wife Kathleen of Dalton; and a granddaughter, Lisa Torrey Reuss and her husband Norman of Springfield, Va.

She was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Roy Jr.; and a sister, Rita Smith.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Alberta Sorrentino will be held on Friday morning, May 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours, at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, will be on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Kelly Funeral Home.
