Leonard J. Foisy Sr., 88

ADAMS, Mass. — Leonard J. Foisy Sr., 88, of 20A Harding Ave., passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at his home. 

Born in North Adams on June 17, 1927, son of the late Hector and Delia St. Armand Foisy he attended North Adams schools. 

Leonard was employed for over 30 years with the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a supervisor, where he retired. Prior to that he was employed for several years for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. 

He was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Independence and the USS Spangenberg as Seaman First Class. 

Leonard was a communicant of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams and was a member of Adams Post 160 of the American Legion. He was an avid gardener and a life long Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and coin collecting, but most of all loved spending time with his family. 

His wife, the former Bernice A. Gulden, whom he married on July 4, 1947, died September 27, 2007. 

He is survived by two sons, Leonard J. Foisy Jr. and his wife Nancy of Savoy, and Michael Foisy and his wife Bonnie Rybak of Inverness, Fla., a brother, Hector Foisy of Clarksburg; a sister, Blanche Russett of Williamstown; two grandchildren, Erica Vosburgh and her husband Ken of Adams, and Brian Foisy of Cheshire; and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Foisy. 

He was predeceased by a brother, Jean Paul Foisy, and a sister, Bernadette Jones. 

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Leonard will take place Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 1noon in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. 

Calling hours at the Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Donations in his memory can be made to Adams Post 160 of the American Legion in care of the funeral home.
