John Levanos, 89, Owner of Jack's Hot Dog Stand
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — John Levanos, 89, of Clarksburg, a longtime North Adams business owner, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was born in North Adams on April 25, 1927, son of Jafros "Jack" Levanos and Mary (Rougelle) Levanos. He attended Drury High School.
John was the longtime owner and operator for over 45 years of Jack's Hot Dog Stand on Eagle Street in North Adams.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Pittsfield, Mass. John was a member of the North Adams American Legion and a member of the North Adams Masonic Lodge where he was a 3rd Degree Mason. He was a member of the 32nd Degree Shriner's of Springfield. John was also the longtime coach of the Kiwanis team in the North Adams Little League.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Jordan) Levanos, whom he married on August 21, 1949; one son, Jeff Levanos and his wife, Marylou of Clarksburg; one daughter, Maria Levanos Carmain and her husband Steve of North Adams; three grandchildren, Joseph Levanos, Daniel Zocchi and Jeffrey Zocchi and his wife, Diana; and two great grandchildren, Alex Zocchi and Carmine Zocchi.
He was predeceased by his brother, George Coletts.
Funeral notice: The Funeral Service for John Levanos will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, Summer Street, North Adams, with the Rev. John G. Maheras, Pastor of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.
