Richard Brighenti, 74
LEE, Mass. — Richard H. “Rocky” Brighenti, 74, of Fairview Street, died Monday morning, June 6, 2016, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington.
He was born on July 24, 1941, in Lee, the son of August and Antoinnetta Pera Brighenti. He was educated in Lee Schools and was a 1960 graduate of Lee High School.
Rocky worked in the local paper mills for over 20 years and finished his career with LB Corporation, retiring in 2008. From 1963-1969 he served in the Army National Guard, making rank of Staff Sargent.
He was elected into the Berkshire County Football Hall of Fame, was past president of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived his wife, the former Sandra Bartini, whom he married on August 22, 1964; two sons, Rick Brighenti and his wife Sheryl of Hadley, Mass., and Gregg Brighenti of Lee; one daughter, Tina Redstone and her husband David of Lee; one sister, Barbara Garrity and her husband Tom of Lee; and five grandchildren, Austin Brighenti, Rachael Pilletere, Oliva Brighenti, Cole Redstone and Camden Redstone.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the Shriners Hospital of Springfield in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
