Bruce R. Briggs, 64
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bruce R. Briggs, 64, of North Adams died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a battle with IPF.
He was born in Adams, Mass., on February 19, 1952, son of the late Nelson F. and Shirley Hope (McBride) Briggs. He attended McCann Technical High School.
Bruce worked as a third-generation steeplejack and later as a welder at Beloit Lenox Machine and as a construction specialist for Cianbro Construction. He then was a self-employed roofer and also worked with Mark Potvin Hardwoods. He was last employed by North Adams Sheet Metal.
His greatest passion was hunting with Damian Wimpenney, whom he considered his son. He also loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and maintaining them with his friend, Craig Lamore. He also enjoyed his 6 a.m. coffee and deer scouting runs with Kenneth Swanson.
Bruce was such a positive influence to everyone he encountered. He was a phone call away to anyone who needed a hand. He was the "go to guy" for mechanical questions, and if you called in the middle of the night to be rescued, he'd be there. Bruce was loyal and true to friends and family. He will be missed by all of us.
Survivors include his best friend and honey, Wendy C. Simard; one daughter, Lila L. Briggs of Florida, Mass.; two sons, Bruce J. Briggs of Earlton, N.Y., and Terry T. Briggs of North Adams; his grandson whom he never said "no" to, Keeghan Vidal of Florida, Mass.; two sisters, Cheryl A. Briggs and Dale J. Briggs, both of North Adams; nieces and nephews; and his newly found family member, Candice Voghel.
Now Bruce can continue his adventures with his friend, Drew Moulton, who predeceased him.
