Barbara J. Martelle, 61

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara Jean (Thompson) Martelle, 61, of 642 East Main St. Extension died Saturday July 9, 2016, at her home with her family by her side, according to her wishes.  

She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, fishing, and having fun making people laugh. She lived life to the fullest with no regrets.
   
She was born in Chittenden, Vt., on February 13, 1955, daughter of Charles James Thompson and Jane Ann (Smith) Thompson. She was last employed by Williamstown Commons.

Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Martelle, whom she married on August 14, 1993; five children, Michelle Thompson of Cheshire, Melinda Thompson of Houston, Texas; Brenda Mason of Framingham, Mass., and David Mason Jr. and Jonathan Mason of North Adams; one stepchild, Carol Martelle of North Adams; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven brothers, David, Steve, Tommy, Larry, Paul, Wallace and Roger Thompson; three sisters, Irean Ramsdell, Susan Lewis, and Joan Stockwell; and several nieces and nephews.  

Her first husband, David Michael Mason, is deceased. Her son, James Charles Mason, is deceased and five brothers are deceased, Charles, Wilfred, Gene, Walter and Allen (Jake).

Funeral notice: The funeral for Barbara Martelle will be Friday, July 15, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Burial will be private.

Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. After the funeral the family invites everyone for a gathering at the Greylock Community Club; please feel free to bring a dish.  Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life since she fought a battle of cancer for eight years.
