Jack Bagley, 67

BECKET, Mass. — Jack William Bagley, 67, of Wells Road in Becket, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born August 24, 1948 in Lodi, Ohio, to Frank and Elizabeth Bell Bagley, Jack was educated in local Ohio schools and studied agriculture at Ohio State University. After college, Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army as an Air Traffic Controller, and later joined the Paul Connor VFW Post 11054 its Commander. Moving to Lee in the 1980s, he began working at High Lawn Farm. 

Jack married the former Mary Denise Theising on July 19, 1990. He and his family later settled in Becket. Jack continued to work at High Lawn Farm for more than 30 years. Whether riding tractors, caring for the cows or fixing anything that would break, Jack took pride in his work. He loved working with the animals and on the land. A devout Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, Jack passionately supported his teams, a bond he shared with his wife and his children. He is remembered as one who lived authentically, was true to himself, and loved his family deeply. 

In addition to his wife, Mary Bagley, he is survived by two sons, Brandon Bagley of Becket and William Perusse of Shoreline, Wash.; a daughter, Renee Jakacky of Becket; a brother, James Bagley and his wife Cindy of Litchfield, Ohio; and four beloved grandchildren, Austin, Billy, Corey, and David Jr. 

He was preceded in death by Barbara Bagley (or Barb as Jack affectionately called her). 

Funeral notice: The funeral service for Jack will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Kelly Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be from 9 a.m. until just prior to the start of the service.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a cause near to Jack’s heart, “Soldier On” in care of the funeral home at 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
