Ella N. Getty, 87
ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Ella (Naberezny) Getty, 87, of Adams died Sunday evening, July 10, 2016, at D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell, Mass.
She was born in Lowell on January 11, 1929, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Warchol) Naberezny. She attended Lowell schools, graduating from Lowell High School, where she served as a Girl Officer. She then earned her B=bachelor's degree in education from Boston University, and her master's in education from Simmons College in Boston. She had lived in Adams for over 50 years.
Ella worked as a home economics instructor for the Adams Cheshire Regional School District for over 30 years before retiring. She was distinguished as a certified home economist by the American Home Economics Association because of her achievements in the field. She also worked on creating costumes for many Hoosac Valley High School class plays, and assisted with the annual graduation ceremonies.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams, where she was active in parish activities, especially in creating arts and crafts for the annual parish bazaars. She was also a member and past Regent of Court Sancta Regina of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Her husband, Raynard A. Getty, whom she married on August 17, 1958, died on February 4, 1981.
She is survived by a niece, Janice Doyen of Bath, Maine; a nephew, Dr. E. Donald Naber of Waterville, Maine; and her dear friends, John and Patricia Mahoney of Westford, Mass., and Verlie Grover of Woolwich, Maine.
She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Naber, and a sister, Zena Kobiela.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ella will be celebrated on Friday, July 15, at noon in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square (Rte. 8), Adams.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until the Mass, in Notre Dame Church. Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. in Edson Cemetery, 1375 Gorham St. Lowell, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the Parish of St. John Paul II, PO Box 231, Adams, MA 01220. The Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
