John Haraburda, 68
LEE, Mass. — John James “J.J.” Haraburda, 68, of Prospect Street in Lee, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at his home.
He was born on June 11, 1948, in Hartford, Conn., the son of John and Carolyn Rowley Haraburda, and attended Southbury High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1970.
After the service he worked at various jobs. From 1987 until 2007 he was employed at Rising Paper Company and at the time of his death was at Pittsfield Plastics.
He enjoyed cooking for family functions, playing horse shoes at Bonny Riggs and playing in the pitch league at Bucky’s. He also enjoyed golfing, deep sea fishing and camping.
He leaves his wife the former Monica K. Scolforo, whom he married March 25, 2000; three sons, John A. Haraburda and his significant other Kathleen Holian of Lee, Shaun Haraburda of Newbury, N.H., and Keith Haraburda and his significant other Ashley DiMario of Newbury, N.H.; one daughter, Jessica R. Carrington and her husband John of Blandford; two sisters, Doris Shaw of Round Mountain, Texas, and his twin sister Jill Chamberlain and her husband Craig of Bucksport, Maine; three grandchildren: Tyler, Malori and Harlow; his beloved dog Brinkley (Handsome); his in-laws, Jeanette and Raymond Choquette, Cindy and Tom Fresia, Michael and Missy Scolforo, Chris Bona; nephews Andy, C.J., Brian, Michael, T.J.; and a niece, Amelia.
Funeral notice: The funeral for J.J. Haraburda will be Tuesday morning, July 19, at 10 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. Those wishing may make donations to Soldiers On or to St. Jude in care of the Kelly Funeral Home at 3 Main St. Lee, MA 01238.
