Doris L. Wood, 87

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Doris L. Wood, 87, of Clarksburg passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in Adams, Mass., on October 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Elsie (Hoellerich) Dolle. She spent her childhood years in Stamford, Vt., and attended local schools.

Doris worked at Lilly’s Music House on Main Street in North Adams, where she did Bookkeeping and Purchasing. Doris was later employed by Roberts Co. as a buyer for the Women’s Jewelry Department.

Doris loved photography and she made keepsake photo books for each grandchild and great-grandchild. She loved gardening, flower arranging and taking nature walks. With her camera, she captured the brilliance of the fall foliage and the animals and birds she encountered. She loved decorating both indoors and out for all the holidays and she had left a legacy of loving memories for her family.

Married 69 years on August 16, Doris leaves her loving husband, Warren E. Wood, and their three children. Her two sons, Warren D. Wood and wife Susan and Robert M. Wood and his wife Beverly, both reside in Pittsfield, Mass. Her daughter, Deborah A. Walker, and her husband Joel live in Granby, Mass.

Doris is survived by three brothers, Charles Dolle and his wife Shirley of Pownal, Vt., Wallace Dolle and Carl Dolle and his wife Shirley of Stamford, Vt.;  one sister, Alice (Dolle) Brown and her significant other, Herb Johnson of Williamstown; a brother-in-law, Donald R. Wood and his wife Alta, who reside in Sun City, Ariz.; her sister-in-law Claire Duxbury, who lives in Hingham, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris also leaves her five cherished granddaughters, Heather Wood, Autumn Wood-Howard, Sara Wood and her fiancée Dawud Davis, Jennifer Fournier and her husband Jeremy and Kristen Prew and her husband Richard; 10 great-grandchildren, Harmony Wood, Zoe Butterworth, Michael Wood, Savannah Howard, Elijah and Jaxen Davis, twins Bradley and Kayla Fournier, and Kaylee and Riley Prew.

Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Doris Wood will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Calling hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Clarksburg Fire Department.
