William D. Jayko, 55
CHESHIRE, Mass. — William David Jayko, (a.k.a "Snake"), 55, of Cheshire passed away at Berkshire Medical Center on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016.
Born in Pittsfield on February 26, 1961, the son of the late Stephen A. and Jadwiga Lysonski Jayko, he attended Hoosac Valley High School. William was born and raised on the family farm in Cheshire; prior to his passing, he was a resident of Adams. Upon leaving the farm he began a construction career as a laborer; his specialty was the jackhammer. He spent time working for J. H. Maxymillian and Unistress.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and foraging for wild mushrooms, and spending time with his family, especially his three treasured grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons, Justin W. Jayko and his companion Danielle of Adams, Mass., and Jesse P. Jayko and his companion Kajia of Adams, Mass.; his three grandchildren, Chloe Rae Jayko, Colby W. Jayko and Layla-Jean Jayko; his former wife Pamela J. Jayko; his eight brothers, James M. Jayko and his wife Jennifer of Williamstown, Stephen A. Jayko of Missouri, John C. Jayko and his wife Jamie of Saratoga, N.Y., Stanley E. Jayko of Bakersfield, Calif., Theodore F. Jayko and his companion Renee of Cheshire, Albert L. Jayko of Arizona, Daniel W. Jayko and his wife Candice of Chicopee and Richard J. Jayko of Adams; one sister, Patricia A. Jayko of Cheshire; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for William D. Jayko, 55, who died August 25, 2016, will be held Thursday September 1, 2016, at noon at Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, celebrated by William D. Furey.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in William's memory can be made to the Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home.
