Ellen J. Clarmore, 67

ADAMS, Mass. — Ellen Joyce Clarmore, 67, of Adams died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on March 1, 1949, daughter of Leeward G. and Emma J. (Trudeau) Clarmore.  She attended local schools, including Drury High School and McCann Technical High School.

Ellen first worked at A. Shapiro and Sons and later for Aladco. In 1991, she joined Elder Services as a meals on wheels driver and transporter. In 1994, she became a clerical assistant in the Nutrition Dept. of Elder Services, where she worked for 22 years until her retirement on November 25, 2013.  

In her retirement, Ellen enjoyed taking various bus trips, playing Bingo and reading. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of North Adams VFW.  

She was the last of her immediate family and is survived by her cousin, Deb Herene of Pittsfield. She also leaves her close friends Bonnie Gardner and William Gardner Sr. and their families and Mary and Johanna Risch.

She was predeceased by her brother, Leeward A. Clarmore in 2004.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Ellen Clarmore will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with Rev. Steven Montesanti officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
