Lillian Sawicki, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lillian Sawicki, 89, of 64 College Ave. died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Poland on Jan. 28, 1922, daughter of Stanislaw and Stefania Mals Kulisz, she attended schools in Poland and came to the United States with her family in 1963.
Mrs. Sawicki was employed at the former General Cable and Cornish Wire companies in Williamstown until her retirement in 1984.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a former member of the Polish National Alliance. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She and her husband, Walter V. Sawicki, were married on June 30, 1945, in Poland.
Besides her husband of 66 years, she leaves two daughters, Wiesia Dion and her husband, William, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Angie Sheradan and her husband, Steve, of Cocoa, Fla.; two sons, Frank Sawicki and his wife, Glenda, of Knoxville, Tenn., and William Sawicki of North Adams; a sister, Kazia Sokowska of Poland; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Sawicki will be Friday, Oct. 14, at 10:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
