Elias Sabin, 90

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Elias Sabin, 90, of 4920 Viceroy Court, Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Williamstown, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at his home. Born in Grodno, Poland, on Jan. 6, 1922, son of Abraham and Bertha Goldberg Sabin, he came to the United States at an early age and settled in Worcester. He attended Worcester schools and also attended Becker College. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Sabin was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in its North Adams office for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in North Adams and the North Adams Lions Club. An avid tennis player, he was a member of the Brodie Mountain Tennis Club. He also enjoyed playing golf. His wife, the former Selma Bund, whom he married on Jan. 4, 1953, died on Dec. 25, 1995. He leaves a son, Donald L. Sabin of Trion, Ga., and nieces and nephews. His brother and sister, William Sabin and Goldie Sabin, predeceased him. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mr. Sabin will be held on Tuesday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
