Arthur E. Wylde, 81

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Arthur Edward Wylde, 81, of 45 Benlise Drive died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.

Born in North Adams on Jan. 1, 1931, son of Edward P. and Grace Kay Wylde, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School. He also completed courses at North Adams State College and graduated from the University of Maine in 1962.

Mr. Wylde was part owner of BerkMatics Inc. for many years until his retirement. Before that, he worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams.

He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in North Adams, where he was a longtime deacon. He was a member and former master of the Lafayette Lodge of Masons and a member and former Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a former member of the Williamstown Rotary Club and the board of directors of the Northern Berkshire YMCA. An avid skier, he had been a member of the former Dutch Hill Ski Patrol. He also enjoyed fishing.

He and his wife, the former Phyllis Jones, were married on Aug. 9, 1958, in First Baptist Church in North Adams.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Pamela L. Sbrega of Williamstown; a son, David A. Wylde of North Adams; two brothers, Russell Wylde of Bennington, Vt., and Douglas K. Wylde of Stamford, Vt.; a sister, Cornelia Perlman of Henderson, Nev.; a granddaughter, Alyssa Crews of Dennison, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Natalee, and nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Wylde will be Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of North Adams or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
