Betty M. Champagne, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Betty Margaret Champagne, 88, of 546 Union St. died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in Plattsburg, N.Y., on July 19, 1924, daughter of Homer and Frances Clark Gebo, she attended Plattsburg High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Champagne had been employed at the former Imperial Paper and Diamond Match companies until moving to North Adams after her marriage. She had also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of the former Incarnation Church and enjoyed singing, dancing, and camping.

Her husband, Francis J. Champagne, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1944, died on March 29, 2004.

She leaves three daughters, Bonnie Cyrulik and her husband, William, of Adams, Janet Zappula of North Adams and Kimberly Fortini and her husband, Dennis, of Cheshire; two sons, Clarke Champagne and his wife, Linda, of North Adams and Kenneth Champagne and his wife, Susan, of Minot, Maine; three sisters, June Rogers of Toms River, N.J., Joyce Senecal of Pittsburg and Janet Lehl of Lincoln, Neb.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Her sons Frankie James Champagne and Wayne H. Champagne died on June 12, 1969, and April 2, 2005, respectively.

FUNERAL NOTICE - A graveside service for Mrs. Champagne will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
