Gary F. Kelley, 72

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gary Francis Kelley, 72, of 258 Franklin St. died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, surrounded by his family.

Born in North Adams on May 2, 1940, a son of Jerome and Marguerite Rancourt Kelley, he graduated from Drury High School in 1958 and from Williams College in 1962.

Mr. Kelley taught mathematics at Drury High School for 37 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a longtime communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams. He was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association, the Retired State, County and Municipal Association of Massachusetts and the Williams College Alumni Association. He enjoyed working in his yard, traveling and genealogy, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Daniel Kelley Solari.

He and his wife, the former wife Joyce Elder, were married June 29, 1963, in St. Francis' Church.

Besides his wife and grandson, of North Adams, he leaves two daughters, Beth A. Kelley-Morandi and her husband, Marcus Morandi, of North Adams, Jill A. Kelley-Solari and her husband, Trent Solari, of North Adams; a brother, Donald J. Kelley and his wife, Carole, of Bennington, Vt.; a niece, Jacqueline Flynn of Williamstown; a nephew, George Kelley of Leominster, and grandnieces, grandnephews and several cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Kelley will be celebrated Friday morning, Jan. 4, at 10 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 3, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Friends of the North Adams Public Library through the funeral home.
